The leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) group in the Ashanti region, who recently disrupted a live press conference featuring the party’s National Organiser, Joseph Yamin, has clarified that their actions were not driven by animosity towards Yamin or the party.
In a statement to the media following the incident, the leader explained that they believe the NDC’s defeat in the 2020 elections was a result of excessive reliance on press conferences rather than addressing pressing issues. They felt compelled to disrupt the event in order to draw attention to this concern.
The leader acknowledged that the NDC has a tendency to take things for granted and emphasized the need for a more strategic approach to communication and addressing important issues. He expressed a desire for the party to learn from past mistakes and adopt a more effective strategy moving forward.
Overall, the leader’s comments suggest a desire for improvement and a commitment to ensuring the NDC’s success in future elections.
“So, we won’t sit down and be having press conferences. That is why we got angry when we came in. We allowed the press conference to continue, but we realised it was a waste of time, so we had to stop it.
“We had to sit them down and talk because whatever plot the NPP is plotting, we have information. So, if we have information, why won’t we take measures but rather resort to a press conference?
“So, it is not like we have a problem with the National Organizer or the party because we know John Dramani Mahama will win this election.”
