Ghanaian pilgrim dies in Mecca

The Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana has confirmed the death of a Ghanaian pilgrim, identified as Musah Sidi, during this year’s Hajj activities in Mecca.

According to the office, the 53-year-old collapsed while performing Tawaf at the Haram — a key Islamic ritual that involves circling the Kaaba — and died shortly afterwards.

In a statement, the PAOG said the deceased’s family has officially been informed about the incident, while preparations are ongoing for Janaza prayers to be held after Jumu’ah prayers ahead of his burial.

The office noted that, within Islamic belief, pilgrims who die while in a state of worship and in Ihram are regarded as receiving special spiritual honour in the hereafter.

The Pilgrims Affairs Office also expressed sympathy to the family and loved ones of the deceased, praying for Allah’s mercy and forgiveness upon him and for him to be granted eternal rest in Jannatul Firdaus.
