Mahama begins two-day Savannah Region tour to inspect projects, meet residents
President John Dramani Mahama has begun a two-day working visit to the Savannah Region as part of efforts to assess ongoing development projects and engage residents on government policies under his administration’s “Resetting Ghana” agenda.
The tour, which started at Sawla, is focused on infrastructure expansion, education reforms and broader economic transformation initiatives across the region.
During the visit, President Mahama is expected to officially launch the National BSTEM programme for basic schools, aimed at strengthening science, technology, engineering and mathematics education nationwide.
He will also inspect key road projects under the government’s Big Push infrastructure programme, including the Sawla–Wa Highway and the Bole–Tinga road.
The President is further expected to cut the sod for the construction of the Bole 24-hour Economy Model Market, alongside other development projects at the Bole College of Education.
As part of the tour, he will commission the Mahama ICT Centre in Damongo and inaugurate several completed educational facilities across the Savannah Region.
President Mahama is also scheduled to pay courtesy calls on traditional leaders, including the Yagbonwura, as part of engagements with local authorities.
On Saturday, he will join key sector ministers for a community engagement session at Ndewura Jakpa Senior High School, where residents will have the opportunity to share concerns and discuss government programmes.
The tour is expected to conclude with an inspection of the proposed Savannah Regional Hospital project, which forms part of ongoing efforts to improve healthcare infrastructure in the region.
