Fame has taken away my freedom to enjoy nightclub outings – McBrown

Popular Ghanaian actress and media personality Nana Ama McBrown has revealed that fame has limited her ability to enjoy simple social activities, particularly going out to nightclubs.

Speaking on the Stay By Plan podcast, the award-winning actress said she sometimes misses the freedom to visit clubs and dance without being recognised.

She noted that before becoming widely famous, she enjoyed going out and dancing freely, but that experience has changed significantly due to her celebrity status.

“I feel like going to the club. I feel like going to the nightclub and dancing like when I was young. I like dancing; I’m always happy,” she said.

McBrown explained that her popularity now makes it difficult to enjoy such moments privately, as fans often recognise her and attempt to record her wherever she goes.

She added that even in low-light environments like nightclubs, she is frequently filmed, which prevents her from fully relaxing and enjoying the experience.

“When you go to the club, in the dark, people will still be recording you. And you can’t do that club dance. The club dance is different,” she said.

The actress concluded that while she appreciates her fame, it comes with limitations that sometimes take away the freedom to enjoy everyday leisure activities anonymously.
