Zoomlion Ghana Limited’s Integrated Recycling and Compost Plant (IRECOP) an integrated waste processing and recycling company has established to receive, sort, process and recycle waste at Esereso-Adagya in the Bosomtwe District of Ashanti region for other meaningful products has officially launched on Monday 28, September 2020.
The project will work on a maximum of 1,200 tonnes of waste a day with an employment serve of 800 people in the Ashanti region.
The President of the Republic of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo who graced the occasion expressed satisfaction at the level of work done and commended the Executive Chairman of the JOSPONG Group of Companies Dr.Joseph Siaw Agyapong for the project.
President Nana Akufo-Addo revealed that the newly commissioned Kumasi Integrated Compost and Recycling Plant (KCARP) in the Adagya will provide over 800 jobs to residents of the Ashanti Region to obtain Ghana beyond aid.
Commissioning the facility as part of his 2-day tour in the region, President Akufo-Addo noted that the establishment of the plant will help bridge the unemployment gap in the region, particularly, amongst the youth.
He highlighted that KCARP is the largest waste management plant ever constructed in the country which will drastically reduce the sanitation challenges in the country as he pledges to support any private institutions willing to establish for the development of the country.
“This facility, is a state-of-the-art waste management facility, with the capacity to process some 1,200 metric tonnes of solid waste per day. The facility has also the capacity to process 1,000 cubic metres of liquid waste per day,” he said.
However, Mr. Joseph Siaw Agyapong, Jospong Group Chairman said, starting Zoomlion with tricycles around 2006, the company has come a long way with innovative and technology-driven waste management infrastructure.
JOSPONG highly appreciated the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for giving out the land for the project and the NPP led government for his support to the project.
“I want to thank His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for granting us and giving us a land; the Kumasi Compost Plant land. I went to Nana that Nana we need land here. We have one of the compost and recycling plants in Accra, we need one in Kumasi and through his able leadership we got the land at no cost,” he said.
According to him, this project is to help curb sanitation problems which are to support the sanitation sector when all come together to support our own.
