A midwife and her assistant at the Sekesua Health Center in the Eastern Region’s Upper Manya Krobo District have been commended for their swift and effective response in assisting a pregnant woman who went into labour unexpectedly along a remote path.
According to a report by Citi News, the incident occurred on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, as the expectant mother was being escorted by her mother-in-law to a nearby health facility. Due to a lack of available transportation, they were forced to travel via a bush path near the community of Osonson Sekesua.
While en route, the woman went into labour near a farm along the path. A distress call was placed, and the midwife and her assistant quickly mobilised with the necessary medical equipment and rushed to the location.
Thanks to their timely intervention, the woman delivered safely on-site. Both mother and baby are reported to be in stable condition and are currently receiving care at the Sekesua Health Center.
The community has since lauded the health workers for their dedication and quick action, which ensured a safe delivery under challenging circumstances.
