C/R: Three Dead, Including Four-Month-Old Baby, in Fatal Crash at Akoti Junction
Three people, including a four-month-old baby, have died in a fatal accident on the Winneba–Kasoa Highway between Gomoa Akotsi Junction and Buduatta Junction in the Central Region.
The accident involved three vehicles: a private car with registration number DV 9546, a fuel tanker with registration number GN 4328-15, and a tipper truck with registration number GT 9026-26.
According to reports, the private car was travelling from Winneba towards Kasoa when, upon reaching a section of the road, a pickup vehicle attempted a wrongful overtaking manoeuvre.

The action reportedly caused the driver of the private car to lose control and collide head-on with the fuel tanker, which was coming from the opposite direction.
Eyewitnesses said the driver of the tanker applied emergency brakes, but the tipper truck, which was following closely behind, crashed into the tanker from the rear.

Speaking in an interview with Nana Ansah, eyewitnesses revealed that the driver of the private car and a female passenger died instantly at the scene, while the three-month-old baby sustained critical injuries and was rushed to St. Gregory Hospital for treatment.
The driver of the private car was reportedly trapped in the wreckage and died on the spot.
Meanwhile, the driver of the pickup vehicle that allegedly caused the accident is said to have fled the scene immediately after the crash.
Police officers are currently at the scene managing traffic and investigating the incident.
