Speeding Voxy knocks down 9-year-old Schoolboy at Buduatta Junction
A nine-year-old schoolboy has died after being knocked down by a speeding Toyota Voxy at Buduatta Junction on the Winneba-Kasoa Highway in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region.
The incident reportedly occurred while the boy was returning home from school at Bereku.
According to reports, the schoolboy was crossing the road at Buduatta Junction when the vehicle, travelling towards Winneba, allegedly knocked him down, killing him instantly.
The driver is said to have attempted to flee the scene after the incident but was reportedly chased and apprehended by some Okada riders at the Dominase Onion Market.
The tragedy comes amid reports of another fatal road accident on the same highway earlier in the week, which claimed the life of a teacher who was reportedly returning from Winneba after sitting for promotional examinations.
The two incidents, which have claimed two lives within the same week, have heightened concerns about road safety along the busy Winneba-Kasoa Highway.
Residents and road users are calling for increased caution among motorists, particularly at busy junctions and pedestrian crossing points, to prevent further loss of lives.
Further details surrounding the latest accident, including the circumstances leading to the boy’s death and the status of the arrested driver, are yet to emerge.
