“Can you undergo such surgery?” — Empress Gifty defends Florence Obinim amid BBL controversy
Gospel musician Empress Gifty Adorye, popularly known as Empress Gifty, has come to the defence of fellow gospel singer Florence Obinim amid social media criticism surrounding speculation that she has undergone a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL).
In a video shared online on November 1, 2026, Empress Gifty condemned those ridiculing Florence Obinim over her physical appearance, expressing particular disappointment that some of the harshest comments were coming from women.
She questioned whether those criticising the gospel musician understood the physical and emotional challenges associated with undergoing cosmetic surgery.
“Florence Obinim went for a programme, and when you read the comments, people were talking about BBL. What is even more disappointing is that some of the comments came from women. Do you even have the courage to enter the theatre?” she asked.
Empress Gifty, who disclosed that she had undergone cosmetic procedures herself, argued that people should not be judged for making personal decisions about their bodies.
“All of us who have entered the theatre have spirits. As you are about to enter, you will just be panicking. Ask those who have given birth in the theatre; it’s between life and death. We’re not responsible for your happiness. Don’t bring your frustrations on any celebrities because celebrities also have problems,” she stated.
The musician also revealed that she was preparing for another dental procedure, which she said would cost approximately $8,000, compared with the $1,200 she paid for an earlier treatment. She explained that her motivation was to improve her ability to chew meat, insisting that everyone should be allowed to spend their money according to their preferences.
“I’ve booked an appointment to fix my teeth again. It cost $1,200 initially, but the one I want to do now costs about $8,000. I want to fix it so that I can chew meat properly, and that’s what I want to do with my money. Someone will use their money for dresses, another person will buy gold necklaces, while someone else will use theirs to buy cement. Allow people to do what they want with their money,” she said.
Empress Gifty further disclosed that she had reduced the size of her breasts after previously having a larger bust, explaining that she researched ways to maintain firm skin following weight loss.
She urged anyone considering cosmetic enhancement to conduct proper research, consult qualified professionals and undergo counselling to understand the potential risks before proceeding.
Her intervention has added another dimension to the online debate surrounding Florence Obinim’s appearance, with Empress Gifty making it clear that personal body choices should not become an excuse for public humiliation.
