Leader and founder of Ghana Union Movement (GUM), Rev. Christian Kwabena Andrews, also known as Sofo Kyiriabosom, has expressed his intention to provide Ghanaians with free electricity, should his political party wins power in 2024.

He was speaking at a presser in Kumasi on Monday.

According to him, the burden of electricity bills and utilities tariffs in general has brought about severe hardship on Ghanaians. Taxes on electricity has been his main concern and that once the country produces its own power, his party will provide free electricity for Ghanaians.

2024 Polls: GUM Promises Free Electricity for Ghanaians

Rev. Christian Kwabena Andrews, popularly known as Sofo Kyiriabosom, the leader and founder of the Ghana Union Movement (GUM), has made a bold declaration to provide Ghanaians with free electricity if his political party comes into power in 2024.

During a press conference held in Kumasi on Monday, Sofo Kyiriabosom highlighted the immense burden that electricity bills and utility tariffs have placed on the people of Ghana. He expressed particular concern about the taxes imposed on electricity consumption. To alleviate this hardship, he pledged that once his party takes charge, they will ensure free electricity for all Ghanaians by establishing the country’s own power production.

If GUM wins power in 2024, no Ghanaian will have to pay electricity bills anymore. We will provide free electricity for all Ghanaians. This is because currently, factories in Ghana consume 70% of the electricity tariffs, while domestic usage accounts for the remaining 30%. However, if GUM wins, we will construct more factories and allocate the 30% domestic share to these factories. This will effectively relieve Ghanaians of their electricity bills.” The GUM Flagbearer asserted.
