Prof. Opoku-Agyemang reaffirms govt’s commitment to combating corruption
Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has reaffirmed the government’s firm commitment to fighting corruption and promoting ethical leadership across all sectors of national life.
She made the remarks while addressing the 93rd Jalsa Salana of the National Convention of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission on Wednesday, January 8, at Gomoa Pomadze in the Central Region.
The Vice President stressed that national development is anchored on moral courage and ethical consistency, urging citizens to stand for what is right and resist injustice in both public and private life.
“A nation is strengthened by moral courage and ethical consistency. As citizens, we serve our country when we stand for what is right, speak against injustice, and uphold values in both our public and private lives,” she stated.
Professor Opoku-Agyemang noted that the government has taken deliberate steps to enhance the efficiency and coordination of key anti-corruption and accountability institutions, including the Office of the Attorney-General, the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), and the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
She explained that strengthening these institutions aligns with the administration’s broader moral responsibility to uphold justice, transparency and the rule of law.
“Our commitment to justice and transparency remains unwavering. We have implemented and reinforced a code of conduct for all political appointees and public officials, and I urge everyone to adhere to it for the good of our country and our citizens,” she said.
The Vice President further emphasised that individuals entrusted with public office must demonstrate integrity, discipline and accountability, placing national interest above personal gain.
“Those given the responsibility to serve must act with integrity, discipline and accountability, and always put the nation above personal interests,” she added.
