Ghana’s judiciary is set to receive a significant reinforcement today, Thursday, July 3, as seven newly confirmed Justices of the Supreme Court will be officially sworn in at a ceremony to be held at the Jubilee House.
The event, which will be presided over by President John Dramani Mahama, marks a major step in strengthening the nation’s apex court at a pivotal time for Ghana’s legal and democratic evolution.
The appointments, made under Article 144 of the 1992 Constitution, were approved by Parliament after a rigorous vetting process earlier this year. Most of the appointees are seasoned judges from the Court of Appeal, bringing with them a wealth of judicial experience and insight.
Their induction comes as the Supreme Court faces a mounting workload, including constitutional challenges, electoral disputes, and complex civil and criminal appeals. The addition of these judges is expected to boost the court’s capacity and enhance the timely delivery of justice.
