“I will die peacefully on a Sunday” — Pastor Adeboye reflects on death

Nigerian cleric Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, widely known as Pastor E.A. Adeboye, has shared his thoughts on how he believes his earthly journey may come to an end, sparking reactions across social media.

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) made the remarks while preaching during a church service. Speaking about life, health, and faith, the revered preacher said that if the rapture does not occur first, he expects his final day to be a peaceful one spent in the presence of God.

He said, “If He delays the rapture, I have said it before. It is more likely I’ll pass away on a Sunday. I’ll go to church, dance, celebrate, go back home, eat pounded yam, and go.”

Pastor Adeboye made the statement while teaching about divine healing and the possibility of living in good health throughout one’s lifetime. According to him, death does not always have to be preceded by sickness, especially for those who have received complete healing from God.

“It is possible to be healthy for the rest of your life. You don’t have to be sick to die. After He has made you whole, you will never be sick again,” he added.

His comments quickly gained traction online, with many admirers describing the scenario he painted as a calm and dignified way to depart this life. Others also pointed to his youthful appearance and energy, noting that he continues to inspire many despite his age.

Pastor Adeboye remains one of Africa’s most influential Christian leaders, and his reflections on faith, health, and mortality have once again resonated with followers both within and beyond the RCCG community.
