The family of veteran Ghanaian actor William Addo, popularly known to many television audiences for his memorable role as ‘Akpatse’, has officially announced burial and funeral arrangements for him and his late wife, Mrs. Agnes Dewornu Akortor-Addo.
According to details released by the family, the late couple will be laid to rest in Tefle in the Volta Region after both passed away following separate short illnesses.
William Addo died on November 22, 2025, while his wife, Agnes Akortor-Addo, passed away on May 21, 2026.
The funeral programme is scheduled to begin on Friday, July 3, 2026, with the transportation of their remains from the Sogakope District Hospital Morgue to the Dzavier Family House in Tefle. The family also noted that there will be no wake-keeping ceremony ahead of the burial.
On Saturday, July 4, family members, friends, colleagues from the movie industry, and sympathisers are expected to gather for a laying-in-state, viewing, and filing past ceremony at the Dzavier Family House beginning at 5:00 a.m. This will be followed by a burial service at Dzavieto in Tefle.
After the service, both William Addo and his wife will be buried at the Dzavier Family Cemetery in Tefle.
The final funeral observances will take place on Sunday, July 5, 2026, with a thanksgiving service at the House of Prayer Ministry in Tefle.
William Addo earned admiration from many Ghanaians through decades of dedication to the local film industry, where he became one of the country’s most respected veteran actors. His performances in movies and television productions made him a familiar face in many homes and cemented his legacy as one of Ghana’s celebrated screen icons.
The announcement of his final funeral rites has since drawn emotional reactions from fans and industry colleagues, many of whom continue to honour his contribution to Ghanaian entertainment and culture.
