Arise Ghana Commends Agric Minister Eric Opoku, Calls for Laws to Sustain Reforms
Arise Ghana has commended the Minister for Food and Agriculture, Hon. Eric Opoku, for what it described as “visionary leadership” in transforming Ghana’s agricultural sector.
The group acknowledged that Hon. Opoku assumed leadership of the ministry at a time when the sector required significant structural transformation.
“We dare say his visionary leadership is turning things around. The intentional actions to translate policy commitment into measurable improvements in the lives of farmers, consumers, and the economy are highly commendable,” Arise Ghana said in a statement.
Speaking at a press conference, Dramani Selorm Dzramado, a leading member of Arise Ghana, noted that while the current reforms are encouraging, more must be done to institutionalize them beyond individual political administrations.
“Ghana has witnessed several agricultural initiatives under successive governments. The recurring challenge has been continuity, evaluation, and sustainability,” Dzramado said.
He stressed that the reforms being implemented by Hon. Eric Opoku must be backed by legislation if they are to outlast changes in government.
“These reforms must be supported by legislation, institutional systems, reliable financing, and measurable performance indicators,” he added.
Arise Ghana presented recommendations from its members and leadership, urging government to entrench the reforms to ensure long-term impact on food security and the economy.
