Kasoa-Winneba Road: Minister Promises Pothole Fix Within One Week After C-DAG Visit
Central Regional Chairman of the Concerned Drivers Association of Ghana, Kwesi Arhin, has visited the Minister of Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, to raise concerns over the deplorable condition of the Kasoa-Winneba road.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Mr. Arhin said the Minister assured drivers and commuters that the potholes on the Kasoa-Winneba stretch will be addressed within one week.
According to Kwesi Arhin, the Minister admitted the road is in a bad state. He attributed the delay in repairs to recent rains and urged drivers to exercise patience, assuring them the situation will be addressed.
He is therefore calling on all drivers to exercise patience and hold off on any further action until the one-week period given by the Minister elapses.
According to him, the Minister immediately called the contractor in his presence. The contractor assured the Minister that he will do everything possible to patch the potholes and make the road smooth for drivers and commuters.
Mr. Arhin explained that the visit followed protests by the GPRTU and some driver unions over the bad state of the Kasoa-Winneba road. The poor road condition has been causing delays and damage to vehicles, which prompted him to seek urgent intervention from the Ministry.
He urged drivers to remain calm, saying the Minister has given his word and will ensure the contractor delivers.
Western Regional Chairman of the Concerned Drivers Association, A.B. Boafo, also thanked the Minister for his swift response. He urged the Minister to fulfill the promise, stressing that the road is in a very bad state and needs urgent attention.
Mr. Boafo further commended the GPRTU Secretary for showing strong leadership by inspecting the Kasoa-Winneba road. He appealed to all driver unions to wait, as the Minister has promised to ensure the contractor fixes the road.
