“Let’s do another animal song together” — Kuami Eugene seeks peace with DopeNation
Ghanaian singer Eugene Kwame Marfo, popularly known as Kuami Eugene, has called for calm and reconciliation between himself and the music duo DopeNation—made up of Michael Boafo (B2) and Tony Boafo (Twist)—amid their reported past disagreements.
Speaking in an interview, the former Lynx Entertainment signee dismissed the idea of any ongoing hostility, even joking about earlier issues they had over what he described as a minor financial misunderstanding.
He said, “I’m so sorry. I didn’t know that the little money we were supposed to share would trigger you like that. You both should calm down. I don’t hate them in any way.”
He later clarified that his words were not meant as a formal apology, but rather an appeal for peace and maturity among all parties involved.
“I don’t even know why I’m rendering an apology over boys’ issues, so I’m not even apologizing. I’m just saying that we should calm down and do another animal song,” he clarified.
Kuami Eugene stressed that he holds no grudges against DopeNation, adding that he understands they may have felt hurt by past events, but insists there is no lingering animosity on his side.
“I don’t have bad blood with anyone, but maybe there’s a soft spot that probably triggered and hurt them to date,” he added.
He further expressed goodwill toward the duo’s career growth, saying he would be genuinely happy if they reached global success.
“If I wake up and DopeNation are the biggest artistes in the world, I would actually thank God for them. I would never be pained; I would rather be happy for them. At the end of the day, everyone is winning,” he stated.
The singer also praised DopeNation’s recent track “Kakalika,” wishing it even greater success and encouraging widespread support for it.
He added, “Right now, if ‘Kakalika’ reaches where it’s supposed to reach and they’re busily touring the world, that’s what I wish for them. Next year, it should win Most Popular Song of the Year, and I would be happy about it.”
His comments come amid long-standing public discussions around the relationship between Kuami Eugene and DopeNation, but his latest remarks suggest a desire to move past any tension and focus on mutual success in Ghana’s music industry.
