“They’re killing me in the industry!” — Kwabena Boakye blasts Vivian Jill, Kumawood stars

Kumawood actor Kwabena Boakye has sparked fresh controversy in Ghana’s film industry after publicly accusing some of his colleagues of neglect, emotional mistreatment, and ingratitude despite what he describes as years of loyalty and support.

In a video circulating widely on social media, the actor appeared visibly emotional as he spoke from what looked like a bushy area, lamenting his alleged experiences within the industry and expressing deep frustration over how he says he has been treated by people he once respected.

He specifically mentioned actress and content creator Vivian Jill Lawrence, claiming she had stopped showing him respect despite what he believes was his contribution to her influence in the Kumawood space. He also alleged that she made remarks about him in a recent interview that he found deeply hurtful.

“People are not real. Abrewa, the interview you did yesterday really hurt me, that is why I am speaking out. It’s the same reason Kwame Borga once messaged you saying you will no longer work with me, and that led me to react angrily and people called me disrespectful. After everything, if this is how I am going to be treated, then I will also react. Everyone behaves like this towards me in the industry,” he alleged.

Kwabena Boakye also made claims about filmmaker and comic actor Dr. Likee, widely known as Akabenezer, stating that the popular skit maker allegedly expressed displeasure about his presence around him.

“Likee openly said he doesn’t want to see me anywhere near him, and it is because of my character that I am suffering in this industry. Wofa, I love you, but that statement really pained me,” he said.

He further recounted a misunderstanding on a movie set, explaining that he had once shared Dr. Likee’s location when asked, unaware that the actor preferred privacy during filming. According to him, the situation later escalated into tension, though he claims he had since apologized.

“Wofa, when you say such things to us, we go home and think about them and cry. I was really hurt, but even after that, I still greet you whenever I see you,” he added.

The actor further alleged that the emotional strain from his experiences in the industry has begun to affect his health, claiming he is now battling elevated blood pressure due to stress. He warned that if anything happens to him, people would only pretend to care after his death.

“You are all very wicked. You will push me to my death and still come with flower wreaths to mourn me,” he said.

As of the time of this report, neither Vivian Jill Lawrence nor Dr. Likee has publicly responded to the allegations.

The video has since triggered mixed reactions online, with some social media users expressing sympathy for the actor, while others urged him to handle grievances privately rather than through public emotional outbursts. The Kumawood industry, known for its tight-knit but often competitive relationships, has once again been thrown into public debate following the incident.
