The Ghana Academic Professional Forum (GAP-F) has issued a strong call to President John Dramani Mahama to launch an urgent investigation into government officials allegedly using fake PhD certificates.
The forum is also demanding the arrest and prosecution of those found culpable.
Speaking at a press conference, Dr. Mohammed Tawfik Adamu, a lecturer at the Department of Communication Studies at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), condemned the practice, stating that the use of fraudulent academic credentials severely undermines the credibility of professional institutions and devalues the achievements of individuals who have earned their qualifications through merit.
Dr. Adamu warned that such dishonesty not only tarnishes the image of public service but also compromises the quality of policy formulation and implementation, ultimately affecting the welfare of the Ghanaian public.
“It is a civic and moral obligation to safeguard the integrity of our institutions. The President must act swiftly to restore public trust by ensuring transparency and accountability,” he emphasised.
