The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested three foreign nationals in connection with suspected SIM box fraud activities at the Sakumono Ramsar Site in Accra.
The arrests were carried out on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, following an intelligence-led operation conducted in residential apartments within the area.
Police identified the suspects as Timileyin Fakunle, 30; Begun Adedeji, 31; and Olamide Roheemot, 28. The suspects were arrested in separate apartments.
A search of the premises led to the retrieval of several sophisticated electronic devices, SIM boxes, and assorted SIM cards, which police believe were used to facilitate the alleged fraudulent operations.
During interrogation, the suspects mentioned two other accomplices, identified only as Mike and Kpalumi, who are currently on the run. They further disclosed that the alleged ringleader of the group, identified as Tomy — a Chinese national who is said to remotely control the SIM boxes — is also at large.

Police say they are collaborating with the National Communications Authority (NCA) to ensure the safe removal and technical examination of the seized exhibits to support ongoing investigations.
The suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue.
Meanwhile, the Accra Regional Police Command has cautioned the public against renting or subletting properties to unknown persons without proper background checks. Property owners and residents have been urged to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the police.
The Command reaffirmed its commitment to combating cybercrime and telecommunications-related offences across the region.
