The National Service Authority (NSA), under the leadership of its Director-General, Ruth Dela Seddoh, has officially rolled out an overdraft facility aimed at supporting active National Service Personnel (NSPs) across the country. The initiative is being implemented in partnership with Absa Bank Ghana and the National Service Personnel Association (NSPA).
The newly introduced facility is designed to provide short-term financial assistance to personnel, particularly during periods when there are delays in the payment of their monthly allowances. For many NSPs, such delays have historically posed significant challenges, often affecting their ability to meet basic needs such as transportation, accommodation, and daily upkeep.
By granting access to overdraft funds, the NSA seeks to bridge this gap and ensure that personnel are not left financially stranded while awaiting their stipends. The Authority emphasized that the intervention forms part of a broader strategy to enhance the welfare of service personnel and create a more supportive environment for their contributions to national development.
Officials further noted that the partnership with Absa Bank Ghana will ensure efficient delivery and accessibility of the facility, allowing personnel across all regions to benefit seamlessly. The involvement of the NSPA is also expected to strengthen communication and awareness among NSPs regarding the scheme.
The NSA expressed confidence that the initiative will not only ease financial burdens but also boost morale, improve productivity, and enhance the overall service experience of personnel deployed in various sectors of the economy.
