“One child is enough for me” – Fella Makafui explains why she won’t have many children

Ghanaian actress and entrepreneur Fella Precious Makafui, popularly known as Fella Makafui, has opened up about her views on motherhood, revealing that she has no plans to have a large family because she wants to give her daughter the best life possible.

During a TikTok Live session, the actress said she is content with having one child, explaining that her decision is based on careful planning and the desire to provide her daughter with opportunities without financial struggles.

“I don’t see the point of having a lot of kids. That’s no shade to anyone who has more than one, but that’s just my preference. One is okay for me. The kind of life I want for my child and myself, I don’t want to give birth for the child to come and suffer. We need to be very much okay. If Island says, ‘Mummy, I want to travel to this place,’ then I get her ticket so she travels,” she said.

Fella, who shares her daughter Island with Ghanaian rapper Samuel Adu Frimpong, popularly known as Medikal, clarified that her opinion is a personal choice and should not be seen as criticism of parents with larger families.

She also encouraged women to avoid rushing into motherhood, stressing the importance of being emotionally and financially prepared before bringing a child into the world.

“You need to plan. There’s no rush in life. Relax, make good choices, and make sure you are very okay yourself as a woman before you have a child, so that you don’t come and drag anybody on social media. So you don’t become a bitter mother,” she added.

Reflecting on her upbringing, Fella disclosed that her childhood experiences shaped her outlook on parenting. She revealed that she grew up resenting her father because he was absent from her life but praised Medikal for being actively involved in raising their daughter.

“That’s how I see life because I grew up hating my dad. I never understood why he never took care of me. Island is a sweet soul, and her dad is very amazing,” she revealed.

Fella Makafui’s comments have sparked conversations about family planning, responsible parenting and the importance of creating a stable environment for children before expanding a family.
