The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially acknowledged receipt of a petition filed against its Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, over allegations of gross misconduct and violations of the party’s constitution.
In a letter signed by William Yamoah, Director of Finance and Administration, on behalf of the General Secretary, the party confirmed that the petition has been referred to the National Executive Committee (NEC) for consideration and action in line with established procedures.
The content of your petition has been noted and shall be referred to the Party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) for appropriate consideration and further action per the Party’s constitutional procedures,” the letter stated.
The petition, filed by Kwesi Poku Bosompem, Chairman of the Tema West Constituency, comes amid renewed scrutiny of Abronye’s conduct within the party.
In recent weeks, the NPP General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, also petitioned the National Disciplinary Committee against Abronye DC, citing acts of gross misconduct. These include defamatory remarks directed at senior party member Kennedy Agyapong, as well as false allegations against the General Secretary himself.
Abronye is further accused of misrepresenting confidential party reports and making public claims inconsistent with official disciplinary findings—actions party leaders believe undermine unity and discipline.
The petition describes his behaviour as “gross indiscipline”, warning that it damages the NPP’s cohesion and public image.
In response, Abronye has accepted the summons to appear before the disciplinary body but has demanded that the proceedings be broadcast live. He insists that an open hearing would give party members and the general public an opportunity to assess the issues, including his claims regarding Kennedy Agyapong’s conduct.
The petition’s referral to the NEC highlights escalating tensions between the Bono Regional Chairman and the NPP’s national executives, who argue that his actions fall short of the standards expected of a leader of his rank.Below is a copy of the statement:
