Kumasi women encouraged to prioritise early detection as free cancer screening exercise begins
A major women’s health outreach program aimed at promoting early breast cancer detection has been launched at Kejetia Market in Kumasi by Youth for Cancer Control and Prevention in partnership with Spectra Health.
The free three-day screening exercise is offering breast cancer checks, blood testing, health consultations, and awareness education to women from different communities.
Health experts involved in the campaign say regular screening is critical in reducing the growing burden of breast cancer and improving survival rates through early diagnosis and treatment.
Founder of Youth for Cancer Control and Prevention, Alfred Owusu Baah, urged women to seek professional healthcare whenever they notice unusual symptoms and avoid relying on unapproved treatments.
Beneficiaries of the exercise expressed appreciation to the organizers for bringing healthcare services directly to the market community.
