OlivetheBoy has clarified that the emotional, lyric-rich love songs he releases do not reflect his current romantic life.
Speaking on Hitz FM, he explained that past experiences, rather than current events, mostly inspire his music.
“Most of the love songs I write, they’re not really from present times. They’re from experiences before,” he said.
When asked if he is currently in love, the musician offered a philosophical response: “I don’t think anybody can find love. You can find someone, but not love. Especially for people like me.”
He further noted that the deeper romantic experiences in his songs come from much earlier periods of his life. “If they’re really lovely experiences, it’s not from now. I’m telling you the truth.”
Pressed about his past public relationship, he declined to give details. When the hosts mentioned Stephy Osei, he simply responded, “We will talk about that one. We will talk about breakfast.”
On his creative process, OlivetheBoy explained that he writes best when he is emotionally stable. “If I’m going through something really bad, I can’t write. I feel like I’m not being serious at that point,” he said.
He also said he prefers not to revise lyrics after recording. “I believe the beauty of the sound is when you get it there and then. Mostly when I get it, that’s the whole spirit of the song.”
The singer added that he is naturally quiet. “I’m a very boring person. I don’t talk a lot. Naturally, I can’t have a full conversation for 20 minutes,” he noted.
