The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has strongly denied reports suggesting that it has incurred losses exceeding GHC3 billion in its first year of operation.
The allegation, published by Asaaseradio, claimed the statutory body was struggling financially, an assertion the GoldBod says is completely untrue.
In a statement released by the Board, management dismissed the report as “entirely false” and “deliberately contrived” to undermine the agency’s achievements and its growing contribution to Ghana’s economic recovery efforts.
According to the GoldBod, its financial performance since inception has been positive. The Board indicated that it has consistently recorded surpluses, contrary to the publication’s claims. It added that quarterly financial statements—soon to be published on its official website- will confirm its profitability and operational success.

The agency further urged the public to disregard what it described as a misleading and unethical report. It also called on the management of Asaaseradio to retract the publication and issue an unqualified apology to Ghanaians for spreading false information.
The GoldBod reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and its mandate to boost Ghana’s gold sector as part of broader economic revitalisation efforts.
