Former Finance Minister Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam has described the 2026 Budget as devoid of solutions, arguing that it offers no path to growth or job creation.
Addressing TESCON members at UDS-NYC in a video monitored by MyNewsGh, he said the government has failed to confront the realities facing the economy.
According to him, the administration continues to deny facts that have already been established.
“Four days ago, the Bank of Ghana issued a statement. And in that statement, something that NDC people have been denying,” he said, insisting the government must stop shifting blame.
Dr. Adam accused the administration of mismanaging the economy while attempting to mask the weaknesses with short-term interventions.
He noted, “We didn’t win power to enjoy the fruits of our labour. They came in without restriction and started putting billions of dollars.”
He argued that such measures have not translated into meaningful progress. “Just overnight, the cedi will become stronger. But that is existence,” he said, adding that the underlying structure of the economy remains weak.
The former minister reiterated that the 2026 Budget has failed to inspire confidence.
He referred to it as “hopeless, jobless, and growthless,” stressing that it does not address the pressing needs of unemployed youth or the stagnating private sector.
