Ex-Black Stars player Edwin Gyimah storms his house with police and Oyerepa FM team to evict family members

Former Black Stars midfielder Edwin Gyimah has recounted a dramatic dispute over his residence in Obuasi, alleging that members of his own family took control of the property while he was facing difficult personal circumstances.

According to him, he returned home accompanied by personnel from the Ghana Police Service to reclaim the house after discovering that relatives had allegedly occupied it.

In an interview, the former footballer said his decline—both professionally and personally—was linked to what he described as spiritual attacks and betrayal from close family members. He claimed that people he trusted most turned against him, leading to the loss of his assets and leaving him in hardship.

Gyimah further revealed that he is currently living in difficult conditions in Ghana with his wife and children, adding that he has no permanent home after his sisters allegedly took over the eight-bedroom house he built.

Following his claims, a team from Oyerepa FM, together with police officers, visited the property to assess the situation. During the visit, some of his relatives—including his mother and sister—were seen pleading with him to resolve the matter amicably, with several reportedly breaking down in tears.

In a follow-up interview on Oyerepa FM, Gyimah said he harbours no resentment toward his family and is now focused on regaining control of the house.

He also expressed willingness to support his mother financially, saying he plans to help secure accommodation for her and provide monthly assistance.

“Whatever has happened, I know she is my mother, so I can’t abandon her. I will look into getting her a place by raising funds with my relatives and giving her a monthly allowance to cover her living expenses.

“Although my father has a house, it has been rented out. I have spoken to them about it several times, but to no avail. Right now, I am thinking about how to take over my house completely. I want to give them until the end of this week or the end of the month to pack out,” he said.
