Armed Youth attack Nsuaem Police Station, leaving three officers and four civilians injured

The Western Central Regional Police Command has confirmed that calm has been restored to Nsuaem in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality following a violent mob attack on the local police station on Wednesday, October 29, 2025.

In a statement issued by ASP Beatrice Turkson on Thursday, October 30, the Command explained that the incident began after police detained 25-year-old Sulley Moses, who had been accused by residents of attempting to lure two children, aged seven and five, to an unknown location.

“On Wednesday, October 29, a group of about 15 men, accompanied by two children, brought suspect Sulley Moses to the station, reporting that they had spotted him near Nivo Filling Station speaking to the children,” the statement said. “They suspected he intended to lure the children away and demanded immediate police action.”

After the children reportedly confirmed that Moses had forcibly held them, tensions quickly escalated. News of his arrest spread, drawing a mob of about 500 people who stormed the police station, demanding his release.

The crowd blocked sections of the Takoradi–Tarkwa highway, set tyres ablaze, and pelted officers with stones — injuring three police officers and four civilians. Two vehicles, parts of the station building, and several impounded motorbikes were also damaged.

The injured were treated at the Nsuaem Government Hospital, with one civilian later referred to the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital for further care.

Security reinforcements, including military personnel, were deployed to disperse the mob and restore order. The suspect, Sulley Moses, has since been transferred to the Tarkwa Regional Police Headquarters for further investigation.

For safety reasons, all officers at the Nsuaem Police Station have been relocated, and the facility has been temporarily closed.

The Western Central Regional Police Command has condemned the attack, pledging to track down and prosecute all individuals involved.

“The Command assures the public that all perpetrators will be identified, arrested, and brought to justice,” the statement concluded.
