Rosemond Brown, popularly known as Akuapem Poloo, a social media personality and actress, has warned against online fraud activities following the rising exposure of alleged culprits.
Following the arrest of several influential figures, Akuapem Poloo has cautioned individuals involved in any form of online fraud to lay low rather than flaunting their wealth. She also advised that travelling to some parts of the world, such as the United States and the United Kingdom, should be limited, while remaining highly cautious.
According to a TikTok video she shared, a particular woman who is now an ex-convict has allegedly exposed several individuals involved in such activities. She claimed that after the woman’s arrest, she may have revealed the identities of her alleged accomplices in exchange for her freedom, and therefore urged people to be cautious. However, she did not mention the name of the ex-convict.
“What I will say is, if you are a ‘big boy’ or businessman and you know you worked with a certain lady who is an ex-convict, then stay alert. Limit travelling outside the country, especially to the UK or US. If you know you didn’t support the lady when she was arrested, then she may have exposed you. Because when they are caught, they are often made to mention the names of their accomplices,” she said.
She added that the reason many prominent figures are no longer travelling is not because they lack money or are banned from entering the UK or US, but because they are keeping a low profile for fear of being exposed or arrested.
“Can’t you see that most of our industry players have stopped travelling? It is not because they don’t have money or are restricted from going to the UK or US. They are lying low because they may have worked with that lady before. Like I said, let’s be careful and limit travelling, or else you may be tracked,” she added.
The issue of online fraud, including romance scams, investment scams, and wire fraud, continues to rise as arrests are made regularly. Individuals such as Isaac Oduro Boateng (Kofi Boat), Frederick Kumi (Abu Trica), Derrick Van Yeboah (Van), and others have been linked to alleged fraudulent activities, leading to arrests and ongoing trials.
