“Embark on the same event and let’s see” – Rev Obofour dares Shatta Wale over Stonebwoy’s BHIM Fest
Reverend Kwaku Agyei Antwi, popularly known as Rev Obofour, has taken a swipe at critics of Ghanaian dancehall artiste Livingstone Etse Satekla, known professionally as Stonebwoy, following his recent BHIM Festival in London.
Speaking while preaching at church, Rev Obofour appeared to challenge those who have criticised the attendance and organisation of Stonebwoy’s headline show at the OVO Arena Wembley on August 15, 2026.
The preacher questioned why some people would focus on whether the auditorium was full instead of acknowledging the effort involved in organising such a major international event.
“Someone is performing his show, then someone is saying the auditorium was not full and curtains were used to cover the place. Embark on the same event and let’s see,” he said.
Rev Obofour then appeared to direct his comments at dancehall artiste Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., popularly known as Shatta Wale, recalling the turnout at an event associated with the musician.
“The last time you had a party, those people who came, only six were better. Everyone is low. Who would even come when you invite?” he said.
He also criticised what he described as Ghana’s tendency to pull down its own entertainers instead of celebrating their achievements, contrasting it with how Nigerians promote their artistes.
“See the way Nigerians promote themselves. Ghana always has a problem,” he added.
Stonebwoy’s BHIM Festival at the 12,500-capacity OVO Arena Wembley marked his first headline performance at the iconic London venue and was billed as a major milestone for Ghanaian music. The official venue listed the August 15 show as the 2026 edition of BHIM Festival, with artistes including DopeNation, Kwabena Kwabena, Ofori Amponsah, Samini and Stylo G on the bill.
The event subsequently became the subject of online debate, with some commentators questioning the size of the crowd and others defending Stonebwoy’s achievement.
Rev Obofour’s remarks have now added another layer to the growing conversation, as he challenges critics, particularly those he believes have failed to match the achievements of the artistes they attack.
His comments are likely to reignite the long-running rivalry and exchanges within Ghana’s dancehall space, particularly between Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale, while renewing the debate over whether Ghanaian artistes should support one another more strongly on international platforms.
