“Aren’t you ashamed of your false prophecy?” — Captain Planet blasts Prophet Uche

Ghanaian musician Sylvanus Dodji Jeoffrey, popularly known as Captain Planet and famed for his role in the now-defunct music group 4X4, has publicly criticised Prophet Eric Boahen Uche after the preacher’s gloomy prediction about the Black Stars failed to materialise.

The backlash followed Ghana’s impressive 1-0 victory over Panama in their opening match of the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup on June 17, 2026. The result immediately sparked celebrations across the country while also reviving conversations surrounding Prophet Uche’s earlier prophecy about the national team.

In May 2026, Prophet Eric Boahen Uche confidently declared that the Black Stars would lose all three of their group-stage matches at the tournament. He claimed the team lacked spiritual strength and insisted that the players and officials needed divine assistance through him to avoid disaster at the World Cup.

“Ghana should come and see me. They will lose all three group-stage matches in the competition. I’m not joking. With humility, they should come for consultation so I can help. It’s the spirit that we use to play football. In the spiritual world, the team is weak. When the matches are about to be played, I will come and tell the scoreline. When I said they would lose the friendlies, they lost them, right?” he stated.

However, following Ghana’s victory against Panama, Captain Planet wasted no time reacting to the failed prophecy. In a brief but sharp post shared on X, formerly Twitter, the musician questioned the credibility of the prophet’s declarations.

“Ain’t you ashamed of yourself?” he wrote.

Captain Planet’s reaction quickly gained traction online, with many social media users joining in to mock Prophet Uche over his prediction. Several football fans accused some self-styled prophets of using football prophecies for attention, while others praised the Black Stars for proving doubters wrong with their spirited performance.

The Black Stars secured the crucial victory after midfielder Caleb Yirenkyi scored a dramatic late goal to hand Ghana all three points against Panama. The win has boosted confidence among supporters ahead of the team’s remaining group-stage fixtures and temporarily silenced critics who had doubted the squad’s chances before the tournament.
