The Deputy Minister for Energy and Member of Parliament for the Gomoa West Constituency, Richard Gyan-Mensah, has commissioned a newly renovated ICT and Digital Skills Centre in Apam to equip young people with essential digital skills for the modern job market.
The facility, which had been abandoned for years, has been transformed into an ultra-modern training centre under the government’s One Million Coders (OMC) Programme, an initiative aimed at equipping Ghanaian youth with digital and technological skills to enhance their employability and entrepreneurial prospects.
The centre has been fully furnished with modern computers and other digital learning resources to support students and young people in acquiring practical ICT knowledge and coding skills.
Speaking to Nana Ansah at the commissioning ceremony, Richard Gyan-Mensah emphasized the importance of digital literacy in today’s technology-driven world.
He noted that the project aligns with President John Dramani Mahama’s vision of empowering one million young Ghanaians with digital skills to compete in the global economy.
According to him, investing in digital education is key to creating employment opportunities and preparing the youth for the future of work.
Meanwhile, the Gomoa West District Chief Executive, Alhaji Mohammed Kassim, commended the Member of Parliament and the government for bringing the initiative to the district.
He described the project as a major step toward youth empowerment and urged beneficiaries to take full advantage of the opportunities the centre offers.
Alhaji Kassim further appealed to the traditional authorities and residents of Apam to protect and maintain the facility to ensure its sustainability and continued benefit for future generations.
