Accra High Court adjourns Webkid case again; fans of Shatta Wale express frustration

The Accra High Court in Accra has once again adjourned the case involving detained blogger Abdul Gafaru Sadi, popularly known as Webkid, leaving supporters of dancehall musician Shatta Wale visibly frustrated after turning up in large numbers expecting progress in the matter.

The group, made up largely of loyalists of the Shatta Movement, had gathered early on Wednesday with hopes that Webkid might be considered for bail. However, the court failed to sit as scheduled, leading to yet another postponement of proceedings to June 18, 2026. The unexpected delay sparked disappointment among the crowd, many of whom had anticipated a decisive moment in the case.

Webkid was arrested on May 7, 2026, by the Ghana Police Service following allegations of cyberbullying. The complaint is tied to alleged derogatory remarks he made on social media concerning the family of award-winning musician Livingstone Etse Satekla, known professionally as Stonebwoy, and his wife, Dr. Louisa Satekla.

He was first remanded on May 11, and later on May 26, when prosecutors reportedly amended the charges, increasing them from four to six as investigations continued. According to entertainment platform Gossip24, a recent post on June 10, 2026, stated that Webkid “will spend at least another week in custody” as legal processes remain ongoing.

After the adjournment, both Webkid’s legal counsel and representatives associated with the Shatta Movement declined to address the media, citing frustration over the repeated delays and the court’s failure to proceed as expected. The development has further fueled public attention around the case, which continues to draw strong reactions within Ghana’s entertainment and online communities.
