GAF evacuates injured Ghanaian traders from Burkina Faso after terror attack
The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has successfully evacuated three Ghanaian traders who sustained injuries during a terrorist attack in Burkina Faso on Saturday, February 14, 2026.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, February 18, GAF said the evacuation formed part of a coordinated humanitarian and security response by the Government of Ghana to safeguard its citizens in the aftermath of the attack.

The operation was carried out by the Ghana Air Force on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. The injured traders were airlifted back to Ghana and, upon arrival, were immediately transferred to the 37 Military Hospital in Accra for further medical assessment and treatment.
The mission involved collaboration among several government agencies, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, the Ministry of Defence, and the Ghana Armed Forces, to ensure a swift and secure evacuation process.

GAF also extended condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the incident.
“The Ghana Armed Forces extends its deepest condolences to the bereaved families, prays for the repose of the souls of the deceased, and wishes the injured a speedy recovery,” the statement said.
