Former President John Dramani Mahama has expressed confidence in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) securing a victory in the 2024 elections.
During his campaign tour in the Greater Accra Region, Mahama subtly criticized Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) for their perceived silence on the current government’s shortcomings.
He lamented the current landscape is dominated by “praise singers” who fail to hold the government accountable for its actions.
Mahama emphasized that truthful critique is essential for the country’s progress, stating that it is only through honest commentary and activism that Ghana can reach its full potential.
He implied that an NDC win would revitalize the voices of social commentators and activists, leading to a more robust and critical civil society.
“I know NDC will win the 2024 elections. However, when we win, people who have toothaches and cannot speak against the ills of the current government will start to get their voices back. Hypocrisy is what is pulling this nation back. If we see the truth, if it is black, it is black, if it is white it is white, it doesn’t matter who is in office. We must be truthful at all times,” he said.
