Dr Bernard Okoe Boye, the Minister-designate for Health, has urged Member States and healthcare providers to prioritize patient safety in Africa.
He emphasized the importance of the African continent remaining committed to harnessing the full potential of E-Pharmacy and digital health to transform healthcare delivery in West Africa. Together, we can work towards building a future where healthcare is a fundamental right and not a privilege.
“Let’s prioritize patients’ safety in promoting equity in healthcare access.” He furthered that government commitment in leveraging technology for healthcare has yielded a great result of which the NHIS has played a key role.
During the West Africa Pharma and Healthcare Expo 2024 at the Grand Arena in the Accra International Conference Center (AICC), Dr Bernard Okoe Boye expressed his belief that the government will continue collaborating with the pharmaceutical industry in the country to establish it as the largest in Africa.
The fourth edition of the West Africa Pharma Healthcare Exposition, a comprehensive international pharmaceutical, medical, and healthcare industry exhibition, occurred from May 8th to 10th, 2024.
Organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Trade and Industry, the event brought together stakeholders from various sectors including pharmacists, retailers, manufacturers, exporters, wholesalers, and more.
Featuring around 150 exhibitors from countries like India, Turkey, the USA, Egypt, Italy, and Ghana, the expo aimed to attract over 5000 visitors from both the host country and West Africa.
Mr. Pharm Harrison Abutiate, Chairman of the Ghana National Chamber of Pharmacy, highlighted the potential of digital health solutions in overcoming longstanding barriers to quality healthcare accessibility for all citizens, regardless of location.
He encouraged local pharmaceutical companies to leverage the three-day exhibition as a platform for fostering innovation within the industry. Emphasizing that the West Africa Pharma and Healthcare Expo would facilitate strong partnerships between local and international pharmaceutical companies.
