The upcoming National Democratic Congress (NDC) government, led by its current flagbearer John Dramani Mahama, is committed to strengthening anti-corruption measures in our country as part of its mission to combat corruption.
In his recent address to the nation on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, Mr. Mahama emphasized his determination to create an environment that supports the efforts of anti-corruption agencies in dealing with government officials who betray the trust of the people.
Mr. Mahama, who expressed his deep passion for fighting corruption and eradicating poor governance, made a firm promise to hold accountable those government officials who have exploited the public’s trust during the Akufo-Addo-led administration, should he assume the presidency.
By enhancing anti-corruption measures, the NDC government aims to establish a system that effectively addresses corruption and ensures that those responsible for misconduct are held responsible. This commitment reflects Mr. Mahama’s dedication to promoting transparency, accountability, and good governance in our nation.
Under Mr. Mahama’s leadership, the NDC government will work tirelessly to create a culture of integrity and ethical conduct within the public sector. By fostering an atmosphere that encourages reporting and whistleblowing, we will empower citizens to actively participate in the fight against corruption.
Furthermore, the NDC government will prioritize the strengthening of anti-corruption institutions, providing them with the necessary resources and support to carry out their duties effectively. This will include implementing comprehensive anti-corruption policies, conducting thorough investigations, and ensuring swift and fair prosecution of offenders.
“We will hold to account members of this administration who have abused the public trust by misconducting themselves in office. But more importantly, we would also allow unfettered space for the anti-corruption agencies to deal with anybody who abuses the public trust under my administration.
“By strengthening anti-corruption measures, promoting good governance and upholding the rule of law, we shall create a fairer and more equitable society where everyone can thrive. We will reduce the size of government in our bid to cut down on expenditure,” Mr Mahama indicated.
He further promised that a new NDC government led by him would count down on the current number of Ministries in the country.
“We’ll combine Ministries and remove government agencies that are duplicating each other,” Mr Mahama added.
The NDC flagbearer also assured Ghanaians of his commitment to delivering on his promises.
