The Ghana Police Service has arrested 11 individuals in connection with the unlawful possession of arms and ammunition linked to the ongoing chieftaincy dispute at Adambrobe in Aburi, in the Eastern Region.
According to a statement from the Eastern Regional Police Command, ten of the suspects were initially picked up on Sunday, May 3, 2026, during an operation by the Aburi District Police Command at Adambrobe.

The suspects, who include farmers, artisans, a taxi driver, a businessman and private security personnel, are believed to be connected to the dispute.
Police said a number of weapons and items were retrieved during the operation, including five pump-action rifles, 23 live cartridges, a taser, six mobile phones and a piece of body armour.
Two vehicles—an unregistered Ford pickup and a Toyota Corolla with registration number GE 2560-19—were also impounded. The vehicles are suspected to have been used to transport the individuals.
An additional suspect, identified as Douglas Amoako Danquah, was arrested the following day, May 4, after he was spotted participating in a procession in the town, bringing the total number of arrests to eleven.
All suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations.
The Eastern Regional Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining peace and stability in Adambrobe, urging all parties involved in the dispute to exercise restraint as investigations continue.
