Leader and founder of Ghana Union Movement, (GUM), Rev. Andrews Kwabena Christian better known as Kyiriabosom has expressed his concerns regarding the feasibility and effectiveness of the NDC’s 24-hour economy policy.
He firmly believes that the implementation of this policy will not result in tangible benefits for the citizens of Ghana, particularly in terms of addressing their basic need for food.
During a press briefing held in Kumasi on Monday, January 29th, 2024, Sofo Kyiriabosom emphasized the importance of practical solutions that directly impact the lives of Ghanaians.
He argued that the NDC’s “24-hour economy” policy fails to address the fundamental issue of food security, which is a pressing concern for many Ghanaians. Instead, he advocated for comprehensive strategies that prioritize the provision of food and other essential resources to the people.
“Mahama 24-hour economy policy is just a mere statement.”
John Mahama’s 24-hour economy is not a company neither is it an enterprise…it will not put food on our table and yet people are cherishing it”. He said.
Furthering his critique, the GUM Flagbearer mentioned that the way John Mahama is going about his sensitization on the 24-hour economy policy is just like telling is meaningless and should be regarded as one of those political talks. He said it’s a show of concert played out by the NDC to Ghanaians.
Kyiriabosom xplained that owing to the litany of collapsed companies in Ghana, the 24-hour economy is not doable.
“Without reviving collapsed companies, 24-hour economy will not be possible.
At the moment there are no jobs in the country so what do call 24- hour economy…It cannot be accomplished until collapsed business in Ghana are revived.” The GUM Leader said.
He indicated that the major political parties in Ghana, the NDC and NPP will continue creating problems for the country if Ghanaians continue voting for them.
“Development of the country is not their (NPP and NDC) mindset.” He added.
