The children of the late Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings delivered a heartfelt tribute during her state funeral at Black Star Square in Accra on Thursday, November 28, celebrating her as a woman of conviction, courage, and transformative leadership.
In their emotional message, they described their mother as a figure who shaped not only their family but the nation through her unwavering commitment to justice, women’s empowerment, and national pride.
“You ignited a force that transformed women’s rights. You will be remembered as a woman of action,” they said, highlighting her lifelong advocacy for equality and her ability to inspire countless women across Ghana.
They remembered her as a leader who lived her values boldly, tackled challenges personally, and brought hope to the end of every day. Her role as a partner to the late former President Jerry John Rawlings was also emphasized, noting that he relied fully on her insight, strength, and counsel.
“As a mother, you were our protector, our confidant, and most importantly, our friend,” they added, recalling her wisdom, humour, and the occasional “blasting” that shaped their character.
The tribute also highlighted her loving relationship with her grandchildren, portraying her as funny, understanding, and deeply caring.
“Mom, queen of our hearts, your legacy lives on through the lessons you taught us. We are consoled knowing that your soul’s mission continues in a higher realm,” they said.
Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings passed away on October 23, 2025, leaving a lasting impact on Ghana’s social and political landscape.
