President John Mahama has paid glowing tribute to the late former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, describing her death as the end of a defining era in Ghana’s political and social development.
In a tribute delivered on his behalf by Joyce Bawa Mogtari during the state funeral at the Black Star Square, President Mahama honoured Nana Konadu as “more than a former First Lady — a pioneering leader, a steadfast advocate for women, and a transformative force in national politics.”
He highlighted her extensive contributions to literacy, maternal health, early childhood education, and economic empowerment, especially for women and girls in underserved communities.
“She elevated the role of First Lady into a vehicle for meaningful national progress,” Mahama stated.
He also praised her courage, principles, and deep commitment to family, noting that her influence will continue to shape and inspire generations to come.
“May her soul rest in eternal peace, and may her legacy guide us toward a more just, inclusive, and equitable Ghana,” the tribute concluded.
