The University of Ghana has expelled three students after they were found guilty of impersonation during end-of-semester examinations—a direct violation of the university’s examination regulations.

The students—Christian Owusu Yeboah (ID: 10969509), Linda Attah Lambongyi (ID: 10965543), and Doris Bikpe (ID: 11357985)—were implicated in separate incidents during the First Semester of the 2023/2024 academic year.

According to an official notice, Yeboah and Lambongyi were found to have engaged in impersonation during the MKTG301: Principles of Marketing examination, while Bikpe committed the offense during the UGBS103: Introductory French exam.

Their actions violated Regulation 11.12 of the University of Ghana Examination Regulations, which strictly prohibits impersonation and classifies it as a serious academic offense.

As a result, the following disciplinary measures have been taken:

  1. Grade Z has been assigned to each student for the affected semester, effectively nullifying their results.

  2. Immediate expulsion from the university, terminating their academic status and relationship with the institution.

In addition to these expulsions, the university has suspended fourteen students for a period of two academic years for engaging in disruptive behavior and other violations of university rules. These students are barred from participating in any academic or extracurricular activities during their suspension.

In a broader crackdown on academic misconduct, the University of Ghana has also sanctioned 97 students for various forms of examination malpractice. Following investigations and disciplinary hearings, appropriate penalties have been imposed based on the severity of each case.

Furthermore, two students have received formal reprimands for conduct deemed inconsistent with the university’s standards of behavior.

The university reaffirmed its strong commitment to maintaining discipline and upholding academic integrity, stressing that such values are essential to the institution’s reputation and the quality of education it delivers.
