The family of Stephen Ayensu Ntim, National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has formally requested that he step aside from his party responsibilities temporarily due to pressing health concerns and the need for medical attention.
In a letter dated June 16, 2025, and addressed to the Chairman of the NPP Council of Elders, Mr. Ntim’s family cited “cognitive dissonance and mental incapacitation” as grounds for their appeal, emphasizing the urgency of prioritizing his health and well-being.
The letter, signed by Adelaide Ntim (MP), Kingsley Oteng (Family Head), and other close relatives, expressed concern that Mr. Ntim’s continued engagement in party affairs could jeopardize his recovery and infringe on his personal rights.
“Steve is not well at the moment,” the family stated, adding that his participation in party activities—particularly chairing the NPP meeting scheduled for June 17 at the Alisa Hotel—would be detrimental to his health.
The family recognized Mr. Ntim’s long-standing dedication to the party, acknowledging his years of committed service from his time as First National Deputy Chairman to his current leadership role. However, they stressed that his current condition calls for immediate rest and medical care.
“Common sense dictates that Steve, as a matter of urgency, be temporarily excused not only from the rigours of active politics but also from intra-party activities, to allow for the peace and calm necessary for his ongoing medical treatment,” the letter read.
In a heartfelt appeal, the family urged NPP leadership to consider the gravity of Mr. Ntim’s condition and to support his recovery by allowing him to step back from political responsibilities until he is medically fit to return.
