Two people have died following a violent altercation at Bobo Shanti, a well-known hotspot in Nkawkaw often linked to drug use and unrest.
The first victim, identified as Baba Salau, believed to be in his 30s, was allegedly stabbed to death by a pub attendant during a dispute over a cigarette. Eyewitnesses say the confrontation quickly escalated into a fatal altercation.
In a deeply tragic development, a local meat vendor—well-known in the community for his popular chinchinga (kebabs)—collapsed and died shortly after learning of the incident. The man had lost his son in a similar stabbing incident at the same location two years ago.
The double tragedy has sparked outrage among residents, many of whom are demanding the immediate closure and demolition of Bobo Shanti. Some angry locals have already vandalized parts of the establishment in protest.
Baba Salau’s body has been deposited at the Holy Family Hospital Mortuary in Nkawkaw. Meanwhile, police say the suspect remains on the run, and a manhunt is currently underway.
Authorities have urged calm as investigations continue, and residents are calling for greater security and regulation to prevent further loss of life in the area.
