A 65-year-old security guard, Kwabena Boateng, has tragically lost his life during a robbery at the De-Bridge One District One Factory (1D1F) facility in Gomoa Akotsi, located in the Central Region.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, July 2, 2025, when Mr. Boateng attempted to prevent a group of suspected robbers from stealing two electricity transformers from the factory premises.

Police sources confirm that this was the second armed attack targeting the deceased. During the robbery, the assailants reportedly tied Mr. Boateng’s hands and legs with rope and suffocated him by covering his head with a polythene bag, resulting in his death.

After killing the guard, the robbers proceeded to dismantle and steal two ECG transformers and several electrical cables belonging to the factory before fleeing the scene.

The violent attack has left residents of Gomoa Akotsi in shock and raised alarm over the safety and security of workers and industrial installations in the area.

Authorities have launched an investigation and are urging the public to come forward with any information that could assist in apprehending the suspects.
