Tensions rise in Ejisu NPP over alleged interference in polling station elections
Tensions are reportedly mounting within the Ejisu Constituency branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) following disagreements among some constituency executives over alleged interference in the party’s internal electoral process ahead of the upcoming polling station elections.
The dispute is said to involve allegations against a regional executive representative, Kwame Owusu Bampoe, whom some constituency executives accuse of undermining established electoral guidelines within the party.
According to the aggrieved executives, the alleged actions could affect transparency, fairness, and unity within the constituency as preparations for the internal elections intensify.
Ejisu Constituency Secretary, Prince Asare, alleged that the regional representative had on several occasions overridden decisions collectively taken by constituency executives.
He further claimed that some directives currently being enforced were allegedly supported by regional authorities despite concerns raised by the constituency leadership.
The situation is said to have heightened tensions among party executives in the constituency, with some members calling for strict adherence to the party’s laid down rules and procedures to ensure a peaceful, transparent, and credible electoral process.
The New Patriotic Party is expected to conduct polling station elections nationwide as part of preparations for future internal activities and upcoming national political engagements.
