Seven people have lost their lives in a late-night road accident at Nkawkaw, popularly known as “Atta Ne Atta,” on the Nkawkaw–Atibie stretch in the Kwahu West Municipality of the Eastern Region.
The crash occurred at about 10:20 p.m. on Monday, April 27, involving a Hyundai Grace minibus with registration number GR 5660-18. The vehicle was reportedly travelling from Kotoso Market towards Nkawkaw when the incident happened.
Preliminary investigations by the Ghana National Fire Service indicate that the driver lost control of the vehicle due to brake failure, causing it to veer off the road and plunge into a nearby valley.
Residents, together with personnel from the Fire Service and the Police, responded swiftly to the scene and assisted in rescuing victims trapped in the wreckage.

The injured were transported to the Holy Family Hospital in Nkawkaw for medical treatment, while the bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the mortuary.
Deputy Regional Public Relations Officer of the Fire Service, Aaron Adu Ohemeng, confirmed that all seven victims died, comprising six females and one male.
