Osabarima Etuob3fom Asare Panin, the chief of Amanase, has called on fellow traditional leaders and society to put politics aside and support the government for the development of Ghana.
According to him, traditional leaders hold deep-rooted legitimacy and influence, particularly in rural and peri-urban communities, with most Ghanaians expressing trust in them.
He urged the government to give chiefs and some religious leaders official roles in planning and decision-making bodies, including local development committees and budgeting boards.
The chief also emphasized the need for traditional leaders to take measures to reclaim polluted lands by covering all pits within their lands and preventing galamsey activities.
“It takes the traditional leaders to fight against galamsey because major problems depend on them, not the government,” he said, adding that chiefs should unite to support the government in the fight against galamsey.
