President John Dramani Mahama has cautioned government appointees against complacency, emphasizing that authority is temporary and must be exercised with humility, empathy, and a strong sense of responsibility to the people.
He delivered the message during his First Anniversary Non-Denominational Thanksgiving Service held at the forecourt of Jubilee House on Wednesday, January 7.
According to the President, thanksgiving should extend beyond mere expressions of gratitude to reflect a commitment to ethical governance, national unity, and service to the most vulnerable members of society.
President Mahama noted that the year ahead would test the resolve, patience, and discipline of those entrusted with leadership, while also offering opportunities to advance ongoing reforms and accelerate national development.
“Let us move forward with humility, let us lead with empathy, and let us govern with courage. The year ahead will demand even more from us. It will test our resolve, patience, and discipline, but it will also offer opportunities to deepen the reforms we have started, accelerate growth, and ensure development touches every part of our country. Let us never forget that leadership is stewardship. It is temporary and fleeting. Authority is a trust held on behalf of the people,” he stated.
The President urged all government appointees to recommit themselves to selfless service for the collective good of Ghanaians, reinforcing the principle that leadership is a responsibility, not a privilege.
